Technical notes & limits
- Adds things on top of the page. It doesn’t reflow existing paragraphs, and added text uses standard Latin fonts.
- Editing breaks existing digital signatures and is not a substitute for real redaction.
Editing a PDF isn’t like editing a Word file
A PDF is a fixed layout, not a document that reflows as you type. This editor adds new text, images, highlights, and drawings on top of your pages. If you need to rewrite existing paragraphs, convert the file with PDF to Word instead.
Covering text doesn’t remove it
Putting a black box or an image over sensitive words only hides them on screen. The text underneath can still be selected and copied. To remove Social Security numbers, account details, or names for good, use Redact PDF.
Frequently asked questions
Can I move or delete an annotation after placing it on a page?
Yes. Drag text or images to move them, or click Remove next to any edit in the sidebar.
Can I use Edit PDF to black out confidential text?
No. Drawing over text leaves it in the file, where it can still be copied. Use Redact PDF to remove it for good.
Are my edited PDFs uploaded to any server?
No. Every edit and the final save happen in your browser.
