Technical notes & limits
- Compares how pages look, up to 20 pages. It doesn’t do word-by-word text comparison when text has reflowed.
- Different page sizes, scan alignment, or resolution between the two files will show up as big changes.
It compares what you see, not just the text
Text-only comparisons miss a swapped logo, a moved signature, or an edited diagram. Compare PDFs draws each page of both files and compares them pixel by pixel, highlighting changes in bright magenta so even a single changed digit stands out.
Why a whole block can light up
If a new line is added near the top of a page, everything below it moves down, so the whole block shows as changed. Use the side-by-side original and revised views to find the actual edit.
Frequently asked questions
Does Compare PDFs check images and signatures as well as text?
Yes. It compares the pages as they appear, so changes to text, fonts, tables, stamps, drawings, or signatures are all highlighted.
Why did a whole paragraph highlight when only one line was added?
Adding a line pushes everything below it down the page. The comparison flags anything that moved.
How many pages can I compare at once?
Up to 20 pages per document.
