Repair PDF in your browser
A download cut out halfway, or an app exported a broken file, and now the PDF won’t open. Run a repair right here. The tool scans the file, rebuilds what it can find, and writes a fresh copy without sending your file anywhere.
- Rebuilds the broken index (the xref table) that viewers use to find pages.
- Saves a fresh copy and leaves your original untouched.
- Your damaged file stays private on your device.
- See how many pages were recovered right away.
How to use Repair PDF
- Choose the damaged PDF.
- Click Repair PDF.
- Download the repaired copy and check every page in your PDF viewer.
Technical notes & limits
- Can’t restore missing bytes, badly truncated data, or encrypted files that haven’t been unlocked.
- The repaired copy loses any digital signatures. The 100 MiB and 120-second limits apply.
What repair can and can’t fix
A PDF has an index at the end that tells viewers where each page lives. If the file is slightly cut off or that index is broken, repair can often find the pages that survived and write a working file. It can’t bring back data that’s missing, wiped, or locked behind a password you don’t have.
Always compare with the original
Treat the repaired file as a rescue attempt, not a perfect copy. A damaged PDF may have lost fonts, images, or whole pages. Open it, check each page, and keep in mind that saving a new copy breaks any digital signatures.
Frequently asked questions
Can Repair PDF restore pages that were deleted or never saved?
No. Repair can only rescue content that’s still inside the file. It can’t recreate what was never there.
Can I repair an encrypted or password-protected PDF?
Unlock it with the correct password first, then run the repair.
Should I delete my original damaged PDF after running repair?
No. Keep it until you’ve checked every page of the repaired copy.
