AI PDF Summarizer in your browser
Get the gist of a long report, article, or paper without handing it to a cloud AI service. InBrowserPDF downloads a compact summarization model (about 94 MiB) into your browser once, then runs it on your device.
- Runs on your device. No calls to OpenAI, Anthropic, or any other AI server.
- Summarizes English text from up to 10 pages (20,000 characters).
- The model is cached, so you only download it once.
- Copy the summary or download it as a text file.
How to use AI PDF Summarizer
- Choose a PDF with selectable English text and pick up to 10 pages.
- Confirm the one-time model download (about 94 MiB) and click Summarize PDF.
- Read the summary, check it against your document, and download the .txt file.
Technical notes & limits
- Selectable English text only (up to 10 pages, 20,000 characters, 8 chunks). Scanned PDFs need OCR first.
- The first run downloads about 120 MiB of model and runtime files. Always check important facts against the PDF.
Real on-device AI, not a cloud wrapper
Most “AI PDF” sites upload your whole document to a cloud AI service. We do the opposite. Your browser downloads a public ONNX runtime (about 26 MiB) and a small English summarization model (about 94 MiB) from this site, then runs the model in a background worker on your own processor.
Limits, and why you should double-check
To run smoothly in a browser, the summarizer handles up to 10 pages, 20,000 characters, and 8 text chunks of English. Small models are good at picking out the main points but can miss nuance or get numbers wrong. Always check key facts, dates, and obligations against the original.
Frequently asked questions
Is my PDF sent to ChatGPT or an external AI server?
No. The model is downloaded to your browser and runs on your device. Your document goes nowhere.
Why does the first run download ~120 MiB of assets?
Running AI without a server means your browser needs the model itself (about 94 MiB) and the runtime that powers it (about 26 MiB). After that, they’re cached.
Can it summarize a scanned image PDF?
Not directly. It needs selectable English text. Run a scanned PDF through OCR PDF first, then summarize it.
