Add page numbers in your browser
Reports, court exhibits, and merged packets are easier to follow with clear page numbers. Set the format (like “Page 1 of 10”), choose where it goes, pick a size, and decide which pages get numbered. A live preview shows exactly how it will look.
- Use {page} and {total} to number pages automatically.
- Six spots to choose from: top or bottom, left, center, or right.
- Skip the cover by numbering only a range, like 2-25.
- Preview on your real pages before you save.
How to use Add page numbers
- Open your PDF. Page numbering is already turned on.
- Set the label (like Page {page} of {total}), position, font size, and page range.
- Make sure the numbers don’t overlap anything in the preview, then click Save edited PDF.
Technical notes & limits
- Uses standard Latin PDF fonts and doesn’t update an existing table of contents.
- Adding numbers breaks any existing digital signatures. The 100 MiB and 120-second limits apply.
Skip the cover page
Most formal documents don’t number the title page or table of contents. Enter a range like 2-50 to number only the pages that need it. The {page} and {total} placeholders fill in the right numbers on each page.
Watch your margins
Numbers are added on top of what’s already on the page. Before saving, flip through a few pages in the preview, especially landscape tables or full-bleed pages, to make sure there’s room in the spot you chose.
Frequently asked questions
How do I format numbers as "Page 1 of 10"?
Type Page {page} of {total} in the label box. The current page and total count fill in automatically.
Can I leave the first cover page unnumbered?
Yes. Start the range at page 2 (for example, 2-20) and page 1 stays blank.
Does adding page numbers overwrite existing footer text?
Numbers sit on top of the page, so they can overlap existing text. Use the preview and position options (top or bottom; left, center, or right) to find a clear spot.
